We are part of FX Fitness Experience – a brand new Yoga and Pilates studio dedicated to Yoga, Pilates and Meditation, based in our new location off Liverpool Road in Burnley. Your Yoga Experience has been developed within FX Fitness Experience for almost 7 years by Sue Kennedy who has years of yoga experience.

Our classes are taught in a specialised studio in small groups, to provide a uniquely nurturing yoga experience for all abilities and fitness levels. We offer a selection of yoga styles and Pilates, to suit your individual needs, by a range of fantastic Yoga teachers.

Your Yoga Experience at FX offers a modern and welcoming environment, and our room includes a specialist heating system where we ensure it’s a very warm (or hot) temperature to provide optimum conditions to get the most from your practice.

Our philosophy is to bring people together in a relaxed, friendly  environment to develop their practice. It’s about ‘YOUR Yoga Experience’ that focuses on the individual needs within the class. We offer  different kinds of yoga from Vinyasa, Hatha Flow, Hot Power Yoga to Gentle Yin so we invite you to try out a few classes to find a style to suit you.

I am a 57 year old male, ex semi pro sportsmen, who has suffered with back and pelvic issues throughout my career and into later life.I have tried many times to challenge myself to keep fit and active, but each time my body has let me down, when I tried to achieve what I was capable of. I have spent countless days flat out in bed or suffering with chronic back pain, to such an extent I was getting depressed, fearful of travel and being away from home, with back issues always on my mind. During one of my dark days, a friend recommended me to speak to an FX client, who had similar issues. At first I was skeptical and did not take up his offer, but as my issues became more frequent I had to change my life.

Finally I decided to speak to the FX client. Sharing my issues with another fellow sufferer, helped me to come to the conclusion to give FX a try. On a Saturday morning, I called in to FX on spec and spoke with Jamie, who was understanding and gave me some confidence and encouragement to proceed with a trial. He recommended that I work with Josh, being more suitable with his knowledge and skills for my requirements. I was apprehensive at first and lacked confidence to trust my body, but I soon settled in with help from Josh.

Josh tailored a programme to suit my body and fulfil my goals as well. I work with Josh on core, movement and strength, supplemented with Sue on Pilates for flexibility. I work on CV myself, but always encouraged to maximise my effort by all. Nearly three years later, I train three times a week at FX and enjoy the challenge to push myself to what I am capable of. I still get niggles from time to time, but nothing compared to those dark days.

I give feedback to Josh & Sue and they tailor sessions to aid recovery and avoid any further aggravation. Nutritional advice is always available. I suffer from IBS and avoid gluten/wheat, so not an easy one, but help is on hand. I have a competitive nature and always look forward to a challenge each week. I enjoy the family atmosphere at FX and forever grateful for their continued support and expertise. My message to anyone suffering with similar issues, is to give FX a call, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Meet The Team



Director of Your Yoga Experience

Sue had a passion for Yoga when she was 11 years old. She taught herself and practiced every night for 5 years. In her early 20s Sue qualified as an aerobics and Step instructor and taught exercise to music classes in the local and Manchester area.<br /> As a busy mother with three children and a husband who worked abroad, she had little time to continue teaching and concentrated on her family. However all the aerobic and running (which she did a lot of ) took its toll on Sue's knees and after her last marathon in 2015, she concentrated more on teaching Yoga and Pilates as well as Personal Training. Sue's passion is Yoga and Pilates and Personal Training and she loves to teach the more mature clients. With so many years of teaching it has given Sue the knowledge and first hand experience of dealing with many different health related conditions.



Yoga Teacher

Briony qualified in Manchester with HFE. She 'found' yoga in May 2015 when she was feeling really down and wanted an alternative to anti-depressants. Since then Briony's purpose has shifted so she now practices for both physical and mental strength. I seek to share my passion and deepen the practice of others in a fierce and positive way. In my classes I like to combine a spirit of playfulness with creative sequences as well as breath practice to deepen the mind, body and soul connection - Briony x



Yoga Teacher

James' first taste at yoga was from a Power Yoga DVD a few years ago which gave him immediate respect for the skill of Yoga. James really started getting into Yoga when he was busy setting up a business and didn't have time to go running and rock climbing so he started doing Yoga in his front room from YouTube! From there he set off on an adventure and booked a course in Rishikesh, India which was life changing and James became sold on the science of Yoga. He later returned to India to complete his 500hr teacher training which enhanced his life greatly. So this comes to what I do now - I explore, develop, refine and advance and I share my practice along the way - James

Is yoga for me?

Yes, yoga is for everyone and all ages (over 16) but it’s about choosing the right class to suit you  –  you may want to try a few different classes to find one that you enjoy the most. Here at Your Yoga Experience we focus on the small things that make your experience enjoyable and our room is heated for each class so it will either be warm or hot in the room.

If you have never done a yoga class in your life or you’re an experienced Yogi, we have a class for you. Yoga is not about being the most flexible and bendy person, though the more you practice, the more flexible you will become and you’ll be able to get deeper into the poses the more you practice.  Just start from where you are now and see where it can take you.

We understand being a beginner can be intimidating but come with an open mind as well as a willing attitude. Experience and flexibility are not necessary… you just need enthusiasm and a little positive energy and a smile! 

If you’re experienced or an intermediate at yoga – our classes are for you too. Our teachers will ensure you get the most from your practice and will help you progress at each session. We focus on detail of the postures and create a unique environment specifically for Yoga or Pilates. 

Yoga takes time and cannot be learnt in one class. It’s a lifelong learning process because, ultimately, it is learning about yourself. If you can approach a yoga class with an open mind, the benefits will come easily and we know you’re going to love it here at Your Yoga.

What do I need to do before the class?

It’s essential that you pre-book all your classes using the online booking link on this page or download our App ‘FX and Your Yoga Experience ‘. 

Please aim to arrive 10 minutes before your class to allow time to get settled in the room. Yoga mats are provided or your can bring your own.

The yoga studio is located upstairs to the right as you enter the building. Lockers and toilets are located downstairs. Arriving late can disturb everyone else’s yoga practice. Try not to eat a big meal in the 2-3 hours beforehand, you want to feel light! That said, you do need to have eaten earlier in the day as the heat in the room could make you feel lightheaded.

What do I need to wear?

Wear something comfortable and be prepared for the heat in the room. Temperatures can reach up to 40 degress Celsius. A few layers is ideal so you can take them off and put them back on at the end of the session. It’s easier to do yoga in bare feet.  Shoes should be left outside the yoga room in the shoe rack provided. Mats will be provided in the room. If you have your own yoga mat you can bring it with you. 

It may be advisable to bring a towel for HOT yoga sessions.  It can get hot and sweaty! We recommend that you bring a Large bottle of water  but we do have a vending machine available at the centre.

What else do I need to know?

Being hydrated will make a big difference to how you feel. Try to drink at least 1-2 litres of water before coming, take water in the class and re-hydrate sufficiently afterwards. Adding in electrolytes (sodium, potassium and magnesium) to your water will help you to rehydrate more effectively. It takes time to acclimatise to the heat, but it’s the heat that holds a lot of the benefits in our more powerful yoga classes!

It takes time to acclimatise to the heat so please take it slowly, especially for your first few classes and sit down and rest any time. If you’re getting confused with the instructions you can follow people in front of you or just stop and watch for a while. Don’t worry about keeping up with the pace of the class. It’s your practice. The correct way to breathe is through the nose – it will take a few classes to master, but breath is the key.

Please stay in the room for the full duration of the class. Practice in silence throughout and try to only drink between postures if possible. The key is to come regularly in order to acclimatise and receive the benefits… you’ll be amazed at how much progress you can make in just a few weeks!
