Strength and Conditioning Coach

Matthew Brown MSc

Specialisms

Maximal strength & power, youth athletic development, hypertrophy, sport specific conditioning, body composition.

Background

I have worked as a personal trainer and strength coach in various performance gyms prior to my time with FX. I also spent time working as a Strength & Conditioning coach for Wigan Warriors academy. My own training background was initially heavily focused in power lifting and strength development, before finding a strong interest in injury prevention, rehabilitation and sport specific athletic development.

Experience/Success With Fitness Experience

Some of my biggest achievements since working with FX include working with complex rehabilitation programmes to guide individuals back to performing in their sport, in addition to athletes reach their potential in not only strength sports, but also sports such as football and endurance events. I also work with individuals who do not compete in sport to help them to achieve pain free movement, and I find this can often have the biggest impact on peoples lives.

Personal Interests/Achievements

As a competitive power lifter, I always had a keen interest in how to get strong. Since working with more and more individuals, I’ve found that injury prevention and management is a crucial part of the puzzle, and some key interests now fall in this category.

Some of my biggest academic achievements include a first class honors degree in strength and conditioning, followed more recently by achieving a masters degree with distinction in the same field.
